Valley of Flowers trek is a monsoon trek that must be done every trekker who wants to trek in Indian Himalayas. It is located high in the valley of Himalayas in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand and very popular in the trekking community. Valley of Flowers is a UNESCO world heritage site and declared a national park in 1982 in the Himalayas. The most beautiful flower of Himalayas, blue Primula can be seen in the Valley of Flowers. The best season to trek this beautiful valley is from mid July to mid August and it is best for all nature lovers, avid botanists and every trekker. You can take route via Haridwar to Govindghat on Badrinath road, which is small place after 10 hrs long drives from Haridwar and trek starts from Govindghat.
Valley of Flowers trek is a trek known for variety of alpine flowers in Valley, view of summits of Rataban peak, 14kms expanse of gorgeous valley and changes in colors every fortnight during season. Valley of Flowers is situated at an altitude of 3,858 meters and discovered by a British traveller Frank Smith in 1931 on a lost path when he returning from one of their trekking expeditions. Frank Smith is a mountaineer who coined name ‘Valley of Flowers’. This valley is famous for the wild flowers, breathtaking surroundings and rich biodiversity and attracts mountaineers, trekkers, botanists, naturalists and nature lovers in the season from mid July to mid August.
The Valley of Flowers provides refuge to hermits and sages to come here for yoga and meditation. It exhibits different vegetation zones due to its altitude and surrounding. There are many animal species are found here like snow leopards, red foxes, Himalayan black bears, Himalayan thar, musk deer, brown bears and monals. This trek also gives you a chance to visit the Hemkund Sahib, a highly revered Sikh gurdwara at an altitude of about 15200 feet.
DAY 01 : DEHRADUN – JOSHIMATH
We will start drive to Joshimath at early 6 am via devprayag, karnaprayag . We stay overnight in rest house in Joshimath.
DAY 02 : JOSHIMATH-GOVINDGHAT – GHANGHARIA
Next day, early in the morning we start drive to Govindghat and start the trek towards the Bhyundar valley through villages and forest after crossing a bridge over the river Alaknanda. There are many waterfalls and green landscape in the path all around. After 14 km trekking that takes about 4-5 hrs we will reach at Ghangharia. We stay overnight in rest house in Ghangharia.
DAY 03 : GHANGHARIA – VALLEY OF FLOWERS – GHANGHARIA
Day third, we will start trek with short ascent to valley. After a couple of hrs we reach the valley. There are beautiful views of alpine flowers, big mountains and network of streams all around. It have beautiful Braham Kamal flower (state flower of Uttarakhnad), Geranium, Marsh Marigold, Anemone, Arisaema, Ligularia, Impatiens, Saxifrages Bistorta and Sibbaldia etc. After 3-4 hrs spend here towards late afternoon we will retrace steps to Ghangharia. Stay in rest house in Ghangharia.
DAY 04 : GHANGHARIA – HEMKUNDSAHIB – GHANGHARIA
Next day, we will trek from Ghangharia to Hemkund Sahib which is a highly revered Sikh gurdwara built next to a lake. We can take a dip in the cold waters of the lake and served a hot tea in the gurdwara. Stay in rest house in Ghangharia.
DAY 05 : GHANGHARIA – GOVINDGHAT – BADRINATH and MANA VILLAGE
We trek back to Govindghat and drive for an hour to reach the Badrinath which is an ancient temple situated at the banks of Alaknanda with hot Sulphur water pools. After Badrinath visit, we go to Mana Village, also known as the last village of Uttarakhand, wich is around 2 kms away from Badrinath. We will take a short hike of 15 minutes to reach Bheem Pul, over the origin point of Saraswati river. After that we drive back to Joshimath and stay overnight at the rest house.
DAY 06 : JOSHIMATH – DEHRADUN
Next day, early in the morning we start drive from Badrinath to Dehradun. You can take an overnight train to Delhi.
AT LEAST 2 guides for the group of maximum 12 trekkers so 1 guide for 6 group members. This will ensure high safety and more information and personal attention which are necessary to appreciate a trek. All our guides are professionally trained and have many years of relevant experience in guiding treks.
Accommodation in Hotel Wild Orchid Inn in Sankri on single/double/triple occupancy basis.

We believe that roughing it out necessarily doesn’t mean sleeping in smelly sleeping bags, compromising on safety by using low quality equipment and having unappetising meals. We focus on your safety, basic comforts and the environment while camping. Keeping this is mind, the following equipment is provided on the trek:
