Mysteries about Kedarkantha: According to locals, Kedarkantha was once the home of a great sage named Rishi Kashyap. It is said that Kashyap meditated on the peak for many years, eventually becoming one with the mountain. Today, hikers can still feel the presence of Rishi Kashyap as they make their way up to the summit.

Travel time: The mountain is most commonly accessed from the town of Sankri, Uttarakhand ,which is about a 10-hour drive from Delhi. The best time to trek Kedarkantha is from December to March when the weather is cooler and there is less snow.

In summer, the trek takes you through green meadows, and fragrant pine and oak forests filled with birds and wildflowers. There are clear natural pools and streams of clear sparkling water to dip your feet into.

In winters, you’ll see a pristine blanket of snow, so thick and pure that you can’t resist jumping in it or making a snowman! At night, a crackling campfire sets the winter trek mood.

Throughout the year you can do this trek but it is advised to avoid trekking in the monsoon season (June-September) and in winters (January, cause of heavy snowfall).
