BORASU PASS TREK 2024
Borasu Pass or Bara-su is a high mountain pass that is located on the border of Uttaranchal and Himachal Pradesh along the border with Tibet. It was an ancient trade route between Har-ki-Dun valley and Kinnaur valley. No longer used by the locals but it has become an escapade for trekkers and mountaineers. Situated at an elevation of 5480 meters, Borasu is a high-altitude pass that bisects the border between Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. It is the pass that connected Tons valley in Uttarakhand to Baspa river valley.
The trek starts from Taluka, passing through dense forests. The trek from Osla to Har ki Dun is through decked mountain fields filled with chinar trees and green meadows. As Har Ki Dun falls within the Govind Pashu Vihar wildlife sanctuary, possibility of seeing wildlife are quite high. Trek follows boisterous Har-ki-Dun Ganga and ends at the colossal Baspa River. For nature lovers stay in Forest Rest House or Camping near Har ki Dun Ganga or Camping near the beautiful glacial lake at Maninda Tal a few kms from Har ki Dun are pretty good options. The whole trail passes through glacier moraine, steep narrow ridges, sheer vertical snow slopes and boulder fields. In whole it is a very vigorous trek mixing all the elements of nature from verdant meadows to backwoods to frisky rivers to glaciers, and picturesque peaks capped with snow.
